This Privacy Policy explains how SL Cinema ("we," "our," "us," or "the platform") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our website and services. By creating an account or using SL Cinema, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password, which is securely encrypted and never stored or viewable in plain text.

Profile information
When you build your artist profile, you may provide your first and last name, stage name, gender, date of birth, profile picture, phone number, WhatsApp number, district, address, cinema roles, biography, willingness to travel, other profession, and links to your social media accounts. You choose what to include, and certain fields such as your email, phone, and WhatsApp number can be individually hidden from public view in your Privacy settings.

Project and portfolio information
Titles, descriptions, roles, years, links, and thumbnail images for any projects you add to your portfolio.

Usage information
We track basic usage data such as the number of times your profile has been viewed by other users, and internal activity logs (such as login times and profile updates) used for account security and platform administration.

Communications
If you contact us through our Contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject, and message so we can respond to you.

Cookies
SL Cinema uses a session cookie to keep you logged in while you use the site. If you select "Remember Me" at login, we also store your email address in a cookie on your device to save you time on your next visit. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect to:

- Create and operate your artist profile and make it discoverable to other members through our Artist Directory
- Verify your email address and secure your account through one-time verification codes
- Send you account-related emails, such as password reset codes and security notifications
- Allow other members to view and contact you, based on the privacy settings you choose
- Respond to messages sent through our Contact form
- Investigate and act on reports of fake profiles, impersonation, spam, or other violations of our Terms & Conditions
- Maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the platform
- Improve our platform based on how it is used

3. HOW YOUR INFORMATION IS SHARED

Public profile information
Your name, stage name, profile picture, biography, cinema roles, district, project portfolio, and social media links are visible to anyone who visits your public profile, since SL Cinema is a directory built to help members find and connect with one another. Your email, phone number, and WhatsApp number are only shown publicly if you choose to display them in your Privacy settings.

We do not sell your personal information
SL Cinema does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Service providers
We use third-party hosting and infrastructure providers to operate the platform. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Legal requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of SL Cinema, our users, or the public.

4. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

We take the security of your information seriously. Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard hashing and are never stored in readable form. Sensitive actions, including password changes, require email verification through a time-limited code. All data is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. While we work hard to protect your information, no online platform can guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

5. YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS

You can update or correct your profile information at any time by editing your profile in your account settings. You can control whether your email, phone, and WhatsApp number are publicly visible through your Privacy settings. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your profile and associated data from the platform. 6. DATA RETENTION

We retain your information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your profile and associated personal information are permanently removed from our systems, except where we are required to retain limited records for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

SL Cinema is intended for working professionals and individuals age 18 and older in the film and cinema industry. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of SL Cinema after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
